Wow!

Congrats on your baby turning 20 Alex. (Even though I believe you gave it up for adoption some years ago?)

Not that I'd always agree on your views regarding football, but you should be very proud this place has survived and (dare I say it) thrived for so long.

Always been my favourite WHU site. I must have been on here for 18 of those 20 years.

Some great stuff there. And incontrovertible proof that history repeats itself.

Rotherham, here we come.

GUEST (Hairy dog shit) - 14 Jun 10:03
THAT IS ME DONE WITH THIS CLUB IT IS THE WORST APPOINTMENT IN THE HISTORY OF THE GAME, NO AMBITION,NO IMAGINATION OR EFFORT FROM THE BOARD TO APPOINT A BIG NAME MANAGER, IT IS TOTAL SHIT, THEY MIGHT AS WELL HAVE GIVEN THE JOB TO STUART PEARCE, THE ONLY REASON FOR THIS APPOINTMENT IS THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYONE ELSE.

I MADE A COMMENT THE OTHER DAY, QUESTIONING IF TERRY BROWN DOES EXCIST OR WAS HE JUST MADE UP TO TAKE THE PRESSURE OF THE OTHER FUCKWITS WHO RUN W.H.U. THEN I THOUGHT WE WILL SEE HIM AT THE PRESS CONFERENCE THEN I REMEMBERED THAT HE HAS NEVER BEEN TO ANY OF THE OTHER PRESS CONFERENCE SHOWN ON SKY YOU ALLWAYS GET THAT TOSSPOT PAUL ALDRIDGE STICKING HIS TRUMPET IN. I LIKE MOST OF YOU WOULD JUST LIKE SOME ONE IN A TOP POSITION AT W.H.U. TO LET THE FANS KNOW THAT ITS ALL IN HAND AND NOT TO WORRY. BUT THEN I REMEMBERED WE ARE JUST THE FANS WHO PAY THE WAGES ETC. SO WHAT WRITE DO WE HAVE, TO KNOW WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON AT OUR CLUB.
I KNOW ITS NOT IDEAL BUT IF ROEDER DOES GET THE JOB LETS GET BEHIND HIM AS IAM SURE WE WILL. AND ALSO WILL ANY ONE PLEASE CONFIRM TO ME THAT T.B DOES LIVE
P.S SORRY FOR THE SPELLING BUT IAM JUST A THICK TWAT

Ag Buster!

I signed up for this forum using the now defunct official sites email whufcmail.com.

So this would have been pocket pardew era, I'm fairly certain i found out about this site by reading the Nightmare on Green street book.

I wonder what an updated version of that book would read like now?

Classic V back in 2001.

'I think from what's on offer in that division Jon Macken of Preston is the standout attacker.'

Re: WHO over 20 now...
Reading the rumours on the archived site just before Roeder was appointed, both Mancini and Ancelotti were linked with the job. So not much has changed!

>>> In what year did the 10000+ numbering start?

I just looked this up, had no idea (I didn't archive stuff back then). June 2001 it seems. Before then it was either an anonymous notice board style page or simply emails that people sent that I pasted on a page on the site.

Here's the earliest existing version of the forum...

http://web.archive.org/web/20010614074336/http://www.westhamonline.com:80/boards.shtml

And here's a (terribly written) news article on Roeder's appointment from that period with open comments. I still don't have a full answer to this but I'm very interested to know if it was the first or just one of the first internet websites to put users comments after articles on the same page.

Re: WHO over 20 now...
Also in the early days of the Internet, not necessarily on WHO if you typed in Essex or Middlesex etc; it would fetch up a boat load of Asian porno sites, various companies tried to prevent this by blocking direction to any sites with the word sex in it, problem was if you wanted to find out anything relating to Essex etc it would block you!
